1) Hydrants:
During the Month of May crews spent a great deal of time checking all
public hydrants in our running district. Spring checks include
flushing each hydrant and making certain it is functioning to it's
peak ability. The flushing portion of these checks results in rusty
water for several areas of our community. We regret this
inconvenience, but appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as
we perform this important task.
During this Spring we found 7 hydrants not working and in need of
repair.
2) FireFighter of the Year:
Each May the Worthington VFW recognizes one of our members with a
"FireFighter of the Year" award. Nominees are made by shift officers
and the membership. This year's recipient was Ty Stewart. Ty
received the award for his diligent work over the past several years,
organizing and modernizing our supply and ordering process for EMS
materials and medications.
3) Driving Etiquette:
Over the past month our crews have responded to several fatal auto
accidents. It would be nice if this rash of fatalities was uncommon,
but for most of 2008 we've seen higher than normal numbers of severe
accidents. To work toward a safer roadway for all, we'd like to offer
what we consider some important driving etiquette for drivers of all
ages. Please visit the following page for details:
