We started this collective because we all love to move and groove. Simply put, for the sheer love of dance!! We recognize that while the love of dance is essential to create dance gatherings, we also want to create a loving, safe, and fun space for all to enjoy! Collectively, after many vibrant meetings, we came up with a strong vision. Here are the main values we hold near and dear for our dance collective. We welcome new members, movement lovers shy or bold dancers to join and be co-creators of this wonderful vision we are unfolding…

We hold the strong intention to honour movement and dance as an essential and powerful expression of self and connection to others. The healing and artistic nature of movement is acknowledged by us movers, who recognize fun, play and humour are vital to this practice. We commit to providing an ongoing inclusive space that is body loving and body positive and encourages movement for men and women, people of a variety of ages, sizes, and backgrounds. We celebrate our connection to each other, to the earth, and to the dance of life, in our weekly dance gatherings called The Move.

No one person or movement teacher is the leader or the way or the path of the collective, and we welcome all respectful involvement. As a movement collective (not surprisingly) we embrace both inner and outer flexibility, change, and transformation. Flexibility means choice for involvement. For those who just want to dance, cheers to you and see you on the dance floor. For others, who want to become more involved, or prefer not to pay in money for The MOVE, let us know, and we do have a few roles that include DJ and door that are paid or exchange positions. There are also other ways to be involved, such as building altars or art instillations for The Move, creating flyers, tech help with equipment, childcare, and promotion. With a spirit of openness and listening, community building and resource sharing are encouraged inside and outside collective events.

In our gatherings, called The MOVE, we offer an open space to move and gather with other people who desire to dance (no dance experience required!). we recognize the importance of having a space where movement, dance, intuition, feelings, silence, and other non-verbal forms of experiences are enjoyed. The DJ of the week (who will rotate) will offer an opening circle and closing for inspiration, containment and connection of group energies, and community connection. Mostly, the MOVE, is an opportunity to explore movement and dance with an incredible variety of DJ’d music.

We honour mother earth (if necessary we will have recycling available, and use non-toxic cleaners) in our space and our gatherings. We remember, most importantly. The core purpose we have come together, is to move and dance, so we lovingly hold this intention in our hearts.

Children are welcome, however, the safety of children is the full responsibility of their parents or guardian. Please do not leave a child unattended during The MOVE ecstatic dance gathering.
