What scenic resources do you value?

The City of Shelton recently completed it's main planning document that guides decisions: the Plan of Conservation & Development.  It had an Implementation Schedule that called for various tasks and policies to be followed through on, and which agency would take responsibility for the item.

As part of our preparation to revise the City's Open Space Plan, the Conservation Commission is conducting a citywide scenic resource inventory.  This is where you come in as the public to help us out.

What do you value in town as scenic?  It could be a long vista down the Housatonic River, a quiet country road, a particular tree that is majestic in the landscape, or a pocket of streetscape with some stone walls.  The problem is, while we as commissioners are familiar with the city's surroundings, we could use the public's input to broaden the perspective.

If you have a scenic resource in the community that you value - let us know.  Submit a photo if you like to help us document it.  The resource may already be protected, but a related task to accomplish is to propose creative ways to protect identified scenic elements.  We welcome suggestions for that also.  In addition to the existing Open Space Plan, review some more recent Open Space Maps online.  (These are available at a non-city website as the city does not have them available in digital form)

We will be updating our Open Space Plan in the coming year, and want to incorporate as much public input as possible.  Thanks in advance for your help.
