standard times for equipping / unequipping gear

Im currently trying to balance the time it takes to equip and unequip gear, and Im wondering how long other roguelikes take to do it... Its not always obvious with the "turns" that are displayed on the screen, especially when I suspect that for most games, the clock that everything is scheduled to runs at least 10 cycles per standard turn... more »

Similarities between roguelikes and tactical RPGs?

As a long-time lurker but infrequent poster, I have noticed comparisons of X-COM, Dungeons and Dragons, and possibly Disgaea to roguelikes (don't quote me on Disgaea though). I would say Dungeons and Dragons is a tactical RPG (and the PSP game D&D Tactics agrees with me). So, these 3 tactical RPGs seem to influence new roguelikes... more »

I have played a tiny bit of Crawl and there is no doubt that it was an influence on Iron.
