His dark eyes twinkle. "Well, let us test the limits of this truce."
Absolutely nothing dramatic happens...
There is still a small smiling man wearing a dark suit standing in front of Julia.
The only difference is that his skin is much darker, more or less the colour of dark chocolate. There are no lighter or darker patches, even the palms of his hands are this colour. His skin also has a rather odd looking matte finish which seems to absorb the light rather than reflect it.
He stands sipping from his cup watching the other occupants of the bar in the mirror.

"Toby..." Yelyena's voice is heard, quite sweet and reasonable.
"William...go and keep an eye on the lad, would you?"

"It's okay. I can see him quite well from over here." He surveys the room thoughtfully. "In fact, if I turned that table on its side, I could probably see him through the knotholes."

Julia watches, perhaps a touch amused. "I take it you're here on pleasure rather than business?"

Toby pauses to look at her.

Toby heaves a great sigh.
"Some people," he addresses the empty air, "are so unreasonably paranoid; they seem to exist only to be killjoys, depriving everyone else of what small crumbs of happiness they might gather to themselves."
"Really," the pooka gazes reproachfully at the two vampires, "What have I ever done to make you act so suspiciously of such an innocent question?"
He sniffs haughtily. And turns ostentatiously and goes around the end of the bar, where he crouches and rummages around for something.
"Aha!"
Grinning, he returns with a Very Odd Watch strapped to his wrist and carrying something else in his hands.

Jane looks over to Mahri. Was that a wink she gave her, or did the ex-Major just blink? "Also acceptable. The sooner we get your uncle to someplace quieter than this the better." Palanis takes a room key and waits for Gregory.

A thin woman in denim and ancient Birkenstocks wanders over, a puzzled look graces her rather plain face. "Hey there," she says looking him over, "how'd ya do the all-over instant tan thang?"
