OT:A case can be made for books
|
| |
Here is what I have been doing lately. We recently switched functions on 2 rooms in our first floor and made the necessity of book storage a rather pressing need. So, down to the room of doom in the basement I waltzed and constructed an Oak Bookcase to house those orphaned books. What you see is the bookcase with the second of multiple coats of... more »

wrist pincushions
|
| |
I moved the furniture in the living room, and it's really awkward now to reach for pins and threaded needles while I do stitching in the evenings! Thus, I have made a couple of wrist pincushions, and they're working very nicely! (One stays in the living room by my chair, and the other goes into my small work basket I take out to the... more »

quilty stuff
|
| |
Well, while I was without a computer I did a bunch of fabric fondling and cutting. I really like all the scrappy quilts done by Bonnie Hunter at [link] .And I like her system of cutting strips and pieces to have them ready to go, and having stacks of things ready to sew. She has started a new mystery quilt and I had already picked a couple of her other... more »

Question #1:--Consumer Reports--is there different info if you pay to access their online material vs. what's printed in the magazine?... more »

Yo yos have arrived
|
| |
I told you a few weeks ago that a friend from church was going to give me a bunch of yoyos that her mom had made a long time ago. Well, she brought them over this week, holy cow, there's tons of 'em. There's a completed baby quilt top, and a completed almost twin sized top. Then I guess she planned on covering every pillow in the free... more »

phew! looks like I'm back!
|
| |
Well looks like I am back up and running. My old laptop contracted a virus and died. Still trying to get this new one set up and loaded with stuff. Thankfully, I now have email and newsgroups back. I see I'm posting under my real name, I think I'll go try to change that back to marigold. Vista is certainly different. Got some neat features but will take a little... more »

OT Speaking of weather and such
|
| |
The Sydney and Hunter region areas, and probably those in between and surrounding, have been hit by winter again! Wet and windy, pretty much since Tuesday night. Forecast to last until sometime Saturday, perfect weather to snuggle in a quilt except I haven't made one for me yet. :-( After a marathon effort at the end of July to make more... more »

Not to be missed exhibition of Quilts
|
| |
I just thought I would give people a heads up about a first ever exhibition of a number of outstanding quilts from the Collection of the D A R ( Daughters of the American Revolution) quilts collection. That organization, of which my wife is a long time member, has an article in the monthly magazine that is sent to members, that caught... more »
