Machined the sheaves on my Clausing 6903
I've had this lathe for just about a year. Living in northern michigan limits my time to play with fixing it. Being popular at work doesn't help either. The vari drive sheaves are now repaired. [link] Go to the bottom of the page. I'll break it up soon, it is getting long.... more »

Cutting oil v. thread cutting oil - difference?
My "lat" can of cutiing oil wandered off, so I went to the local Borg to buy some more. All that they had was pints of "dark" thread cuttiing oil (Oatey 30203), so I bought that. I'll be using it for cutting or drillling iron/steel. What's the difference? For Harry homeowner, does it matter? R,... more »

Cylinder Machining Order of Operations
I'm a wannabe miniature internal-combustion engine builder. To further the task of taking the 'wannabe' out of the description, I'm considering taking an old Cox Medallion .15 and machining a new cylinder and piston set for it (the original was allowed to run too lean, overheated, and now cylinder and piston are slightly oval; since the piston is free to... more »

The patient is a 3500 Watt Homelite generator powered by a 8HP Briggs engine with a two piece Flo-Jet carburetor. The fuel system had solidified with stale gas. I replaced the fuel line and filter, and cleaned and rebuilt the carburetor. Is the carburetor adjusted with the speed governor connected, or is the governor disconnected for inital jet... more »

I asked Dan Yerkovich how Sonic Care toothbrush works
I have an old worn out Sonic Care brush head, with two magnets sticking out the bottom. The wife issued me a new design brush head that is differently shaped. She breaks off the magnets for the refrigerator. I decided to cut the plastic off and figure out how it works. There are two magnets attached via a long piece of metal to the brush.... more »
