I should add, my original comment was more about the discussion we're
having than what the awards committee should do. They can determine
eligibility before all the shows have opened.... I just don't think we
should be handing out any awards before we know what the playing field
is.

Well, the Tony Awards have been given out since the 40s and they
haven't found a need to establish consistant rules yet... I think the
goal should be to honor achievements on the Broadway stage in a way
that's appropriate to the season. Seasons change, and what might seem

If you were going to do an English version, actually, Hugh Laurie and

No, he's a movie star, not an actor. There's a difference.
And neither of them, even in their respective heydays, could have
handled the requirements of a Neil Simon script. Neither of them can do
that kind of quick comedy.

Yeah well you forget Sean has played a Barbar, an Irishman and a number of
Americans
its called acting
The whole point of my posting was at one time I saw them in the roles of
course they're too old
now and are both retired anyway.

1. 'British' and 'English' are not interchangeable. Sean Connery isn't
