Kissing songs
|
| |
Never mind my inspiration here (another new gal-pal), your assignment here is simple: Compile an exhaustive, comprehensive list of songs from musicals that reference kissing. We can start with -- "One Last Kiss" from "Bye-Bye Birdie." "As Time Goes By" (e.g., "A kiss is just a kiss . . . .") from 1931's... more »

Wonderful Town Lyric referencing Betty Hutton lyric?
|
| |
Greetings: I was listening to the Village Vortex song today (can't recall the title - but it's the one where Ruth is barking for the club). The part where the song goes into all the slang was really amusing me - and I noticed they used the words "jackson" and "solid," two slang words used often in Betty Hutton's "Murder, He Says."... more »

OT: Sadly, O'Reilly was right
|
| |
O'Reilly has been attacking the state of VT for the past year or two for not protecting its children from predators. It started back when judge Cashman sentenced a child rapist to probation and only a few months of jail time. VT has also touted its sexual predators treatment program as "award winning"... more »

I'm listening to...
|
| |
...the 1991 Paris cast recording of "Les Miserables". I saw this production back in 1991, and I enjoyed it very much. I'd forgotten how good this is, actually. The songs sound better in French, and the French text used here is mostly rather better than the English lyrics for this version of the show, a couple of rather clumsy... more »

Of Thee I Sing
|
| |
Greetings; I've always been aware of OTIS, but was not very familiar with it. I just purchased the 1952 Broadway cast album and am really enjoying it. I didn't imagine it was so cynical and so prescient about using the media to "sell" the president. I love it and am looking forward to additional listenings...... more »

Pay for the privilege...
|
| |
I know this may sound to far fetch.. but I believe for example, Why should an actor have to take the day off from work to go to an audition, and risk losing that job or pay for the day.. when they can charge for it. Let the studios pay actors for the privilege of auditioning them. Maybe, there could be a directory, or web site with the picture of the... more »

Songs that quote other songs
|
| |
...Just remembered one: "I've been there once or twice" from They Say It's Wonderful (Annie GYG), used a few years later in You're Just In Love (Call Me Madam). At least Irving Berlin stole from the best. Bob A "Aside from that, Mrs. Kennedy, how did you enjoy the motorcade?"
