Original suggestion from Mick: "Ok, after a few pints we're discussing the idea of a new tshirt. Current thinking is a few lines of nerdy python with an Irish flavour. The floor is open :)" Ideas so far:
Beautiful is better than ugly. Explicit is better than implicit, and that's fecking right! Simple is better than complex, like a Dublin street map. Complex is better than complicated. Flat is better than nested. Sparse is better than dense. Readability counts, just look at Finnegan's Wake. Special cases aren't special enough to break the rules. Although practicality beats purity. Errors should never pass silently. Errors should never pass silently, they should bitch and complain all the way down. [Editor's note: maybe the word bitch is not PC] Unless explicitly silenced. In the face of ambiguity, refuse the temptation to guess. There should be one-- and preferably only one --obvious way to do it. Although that way may not be obvious at first unless you're Irish. Now is better than never. Although never is often better than *right* now. If the implementation is hard to explain, it's a bad idea. If the implementation can't be explained over a pint, it's a bad idea. If the implementation is easy to explain, it may be a good idea. Drinking Guiness is one honking great idea -- let's do more of that! By Rory (MickT and AlanK)
python ireland simple, few words, nerds will get it. (moylan)
