First Class seat availability Oxford - London

As an occasional Oxford-London commuter I'm interested in first class
seat availability on this route. The overcrowding in standard class
has long been documented; however are commuters seeing a similar
situation in first class, or do they find themselves in the
frustrating position of seeing a near to empty compartment at the end

Went to the station today to catch the 9:10 (I think) to Paddington.
It turned up bang on time (score 10). However, 5 minutes after that
the "service" was announced it was cancelled (apparently the
"guard" .. god knows what he does .. couldn't be arsed to turn up ...
net result ... train cancelled).
