Orlando Day of Ruby - Orlando Ruby Users Group Discussion

Hello fellow Orugians,
I am working with Gregg to set up a Day of Ruby here in Orlando. The tentative date is May 23rd (Saturday) and the possible location is Millenia Devry. The event will be 10AM - 6PM, with the morning hours dedicated to introducing Ruby and Rails to newbies and the afternoon hours having an intermediate/advanced theme.
With that in mind, will you please edit this page with topics you'd like to see and/or topics that you'd be interested or willing to present? I'm thinking ~30 minute presentations.

I added a few topics to get started. Regarding the date, I didn't realize this was Memorial Day weekend, so perhaps it's not a great time. One idea I was throwing around for this is to have all the talks follow a workshop format. I like the idea of having every talk at least half lab, so people are forced to actually try out the tools that you teach them.

Great idea. That day, the Saturday before Memorial day, is the last weekend of The Fringe Festival so won't work for me.

Day of Ruby sounds great! I'll be out of town that weekend unfortunately, heading to OK with my grandma for her high school reunion plus family reunion. Might be the case for others being out of town as well, since Memorial day is the following Monday. With that, is it possible to move it to a later day?
