RHEL 5.2, iscsi discovered as a generic device sg

I am trying to get iscsi to work with my emc box. When attempting to
login, iscsid thinks the iscsi targets are of a generic typ sg<X>
rather than a scsi disk device. Attached is the iscsid run in the
foreground at debug level 9 and my iscsi.conf and version

I have changed the timeouts in iscsid.conf as directed in the iSCSI
Root section 8.2 of the README so that in case the open-iscsi
initiator loses connection or has other communications problems with
my OpenSolaris target then the open-iscsi initiator will wait for up

I'm currently working with Redhat to try and acomplish the following
and I'm wondering if anyone knows if this can be done or not?
Mount iSCSI target through Qlogic iSCSI HBA, not eth0 or eth1, and
discover and login to storage targets. In the documentation it says
