Roman,

I don't think there is a list of supported features for PE Student
Edition. It would be best to read the PE Student Edition User's
Manual. The Student Edition does support SystemC, VHDL, Verilog and
Mixed language designs and there is a chapter on each in the User's
Manual. There are some System Verilog features added to the Student

I didn't manage to find the list of supported/unsupported features
in StudEd. Can anybody help me? Particularly I'm interested in
SystemC, SystemVerilog, mixed SystemC+Verilog simulation, dataflow
graph, XTrace.
Does the StudentEd License permits to install the Model Sim in the
University class or just at home?

A license request web form come up at the end of the install. Make
sure you are using FireFox 2.0. IE and FF1.x have problems with the
license request web form.

The ModelSim User's Manual has some basic instruction for batch mode
simulations
in the 1st chapter in the "Modes of Operation" section. There is also
a chapter on
using TCL macros (.do files). You can also search for the key words
"batch, tcl, macro"

Hi, I am unable to find out how to get the student license. I followed
the instructions and downloaded the 6.4a version via ftp at the end.
Can someone tell me how the student license file was obtained?

You need to put the student_license.dat file in the mail ModelSim
direcgtory (one level above win32pe_edu). For examples mine is in
my D:\Installs\ModelSim_PE_EDU_6. 4 directory.

Each installation requires a new license file so your laptop
student_license.dat
file will be different from your desktop student_license.dat file.

I'm trying to install the student version of modelsim into my laptop,
i did that but i'm having trouble with the license file.
The instruction say to put the license dat file in the modelsim root
directory, but that didnt work, so i put it in win32pe_edu folder
since that's what the error message said when i try to simulate. but

You can download ModelSim PE at the [link]
page but you will need to pay for the PE license to use it. Only the
PE Student Edition is free.

How are you ending the simulation? It sounds like you are using
something like the "quit -f" modelsim command or the Verilog "$finish"
which will exit you out of ModelSim completely.

Try using the "quit -sim" modelsim command or the Verilog "$stop"
to quit just the simulation not the ModelSim application.

Hi,

After ending the simulation the project tab is disappearing from
workspace window. How to fix it? I cant put back, unless I restart
modelsim.

It shouldn't require administrative permissions unless ModelSim
Student
Edition was installed with administrative permissions.
