I'm guessing someone here knows this ....

Back in the 1970s, the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) did an instrumental that
got used for a lot of sports highlght reels.

Anyone know the name of that song?

For some reason, I'm thinking "Overture"...

It was probably "Fire On High", which was the flip side of "Sweet Talkin'
Woman."

This was one of the first 45 RPM records I ever buyed.

Don't know if it was used for sports highlights, but their most famous
instrumental was "Fire On High," from their album _Face the Music_.

I just listened to it and it has lyrics. I don't have the song the

song being used on sports highlight reels. Maybe he means Rock and

No way in the world. I just listened to "Fire On High." It sounds like
music for a ghost ship level in some video game. It's spooky. I've never
heard anything like that used to highlight sports.

He probably meant the guitar part in the middle. This part used to be used
as bed music by radio stations.

You're absolutely correct.  I only have three of their songs, and I
know it's one of the three, and it's definitely not the other two.

That one was run into the ground (or ice) long ago...and of course, about an
hour later, I realized it was Fire on High.

That's the one I heard all over the place.

Technically it's not an instrumental.  There ARE lyrics but they are
played backwards at the beginning.

Way back when, I took the belt off my turntable and played it
backwards to hear what those lyrics were.

"The music..  Is reversible..  But time..  Is not.."

"Turn back...  Turn back... Turn Back..."

"Don't Bring me down", their biggest hit (#4 on Billboard, #1 in Canada)
perhaps, it was used often in Canada
