Gaming Etiquette

Beth Gallaway Shares:

Respect each other

This includes: taking turns, hands feet and other body parts to

yourself, no PDAs, no shoving... It also means, no smacktalking -
constructive criticism only. I know smacktalk is part of gaming
culture, but not everyone gets it and I don't want anyone crying or
throwing a temper tantrum (one boy got upset someone said he sucked
and threw a guitar on the floor).

Respect the equipment

This means: If you are going to play guitar hero, use the strap, same

with the Wii remote. Make sure the next person has the controller
before you let go, when passing them off. Don't stomp on the DDR pads
or drum pedal, hit the middle of the drum pad, etc.

Matthew Morrison Shares
  1. Respect The Space - do not damage the room or anything in it.
  2. Respect Others - treat everyone like you would like to be treated
  3. Respect Yourself - do not do anything foolish or disgraceful.

We also have a sign which has specific rules for the Wii, which also go for our PS2 where applicable.

  1. You MUST wear the wrist strap at all times.
  2. One game per turn, if others are waiting to play.  (i.e. you get one match on fighting games, one song on music games like Rockband and Guitar Hero)
  3. Do Not Touch The System or any game discs you do not own.  (Teens are allowed to bring games from home to play in the teen area after school but are still asked to let the staff on duty put it in the unit)
  4. No fighting over whose turn is next.  (Thankfully, this is rarely a problem with my kids and the settle their disputes reasonably most of the time.)
  5. Do not make any Miis.  Use one of the pre-made ones.
