How to Use the Group

The jBASE/T24 Discussion Group

Introduction

This group is used by ALL users of the jBASE Database, a product owned by TEMENOS, a banking software company based in Geneva Switzerland. jBASE is also marketed and supported outside the banking industry by jBASE International. Please make sure that you read this page and the posting guidelines as if you ask a question without providing enough information, then you will almost certainly be asked to do so by someone on the group.

Questions about T24

Because the jBASE database is used within the popular TEMENOS banking application T24 as well as independently in many other applications around the world, this group tends to accumulate posts about the T24 application as well as the jBASE database. This is perfectly fine, but because so many members are NOT involved with T24, a courtesy behavior has become the norm:

If you want to ask a question about the T24 application, you are asked to start your subject line with the word T24: (note that the : should also be included.

This allows jBASE users that are not involved with T24 to filter out your questions using their email client rules. So, if your question is something like:

Can I change exchange rates on the FOREX screen?

Then make sure the subject line of your email looks like this:

T24: Can I change exchange rates on the FOREX screen?

Everyone is allowed a mistake of course, so it is not deemed to be the crime of the century to forget to do this, but your efforts to abide by this 'rule' will be greatly appreciated.P>

How do I know if my question should start with T24:?

In general, it should be obvious to you that your question is about T24, but if you are unsure, then you can either just use the T24: prefix anyway, or ask yourself if the question would make any sense to someone who was NOT using the banking application. Basically if it includes language about the application or banking, then you probably want to use the prefix. However, if your question is about resizing files, performance, programming or say formulating queries then it is probably of general interest to the group and you can omit T24:.

FILE Sharing

Members of the group can upload programs, files, articles and so on into the FILES area of the group. There are no restrictions (other than SPAM and viruses), on what you can upload, but if you are sharing a program then please include either well commented source code, or a README file that explains what you are posting. Binary executables for programs are probably not much use to others.

party application by its port number which is defined. you can if your
jbase server is different from t24 server, but you should install in
t24 server.
