Hi Nascif - I'm afraid that moving to JUNG 2.0 is not on my todo list right
now. It would require a lot of work and I'm not sure the change is worth
it. It seems much easier to port the layouts to GUESS if that's the main
reason to shift. I can take a look and see how it looks, but no promises...

Any plans to update GUESS to use the latest version of JUNG? They have
added some very nice looking layouts specific for trees:
* [link]
* [link]

Thanks,
Nascif

I uploaded three files that implement utility methods that I found
helpful when dealing with large graphs and trying to isolate subgraphs
and trees according to their attributes.

One of the files deals with movie creation, it adds methods to create
a stack of states that are later used to create a movie (or just to

jittering labels when morphing

 Hi,

When I do morphing of a graph through more states (I have a script
that morphs form x to y and than to z state) labels become a bit
jittery. Sometimes, they just become invisible for nodes, and
sometimes they do not follow the node while it changes position? Is
this the effect of automatic morphing or something else.

unfortunately you can't do that directly... the interpreter is
disabled for security reasons, so the only way to do this is either
compile a gython script into java (see:
[link]) or just extend the
Guess applet class in java and have it call the gemlayout. So you

We should add colt.jar
to test.html. When you do that, you can use the menu to change

I have been hunting around for a reasonable visualization tool
(reasonable for me) and keep coming back to guess. I can use a
variation of the test applet to load my own graph, but I would like to
apply the gemLayout to that graph.

Can I pass that as a PARAM when I load the applet?

Also, when I try to select a layout algorithm from the top of the

Michael - sorry about the very delayed response. Unfortunately, GUESS
doesn't have quite that fine grained control over arrows, shapes and
styles... I have an idea on redoing some of the way visual properties
work so that these things are more expandable, but I unfortunately
can't get to it for a little while.

The x/y coordinates are the corner and not the center... you need to
imagine a rectangle around the object you draw and the x/y are the
upper left corner. This is somewhat standard in graphic environments
(especially Java).
So the center would be x + width/2 and y + height/2
-E
