Many people who are new to Google's Page Creator think that just because this product is by Google that there site will be instantly put on Google. This is wrong because a Google Pages site is treated just like any other site. Here is what you have to do to have Google include your site in their searches:
- Go here and add your site to the page eg. http://sitename.googlepages.com
- Then go here, and login or register your site
- When it asks you to verify your site, choose the "upload HTML file" method, and copy the
name provided by the system. Follow these instructions to create the
html file:
1.
2.
3. On the file type drop-down box, choose "All files *.*" instead of "Text file *.txt"
4. Paste the name of the file provided by Google. Make sure you finish
the name with a .html (example: google12bhjygedqedig.html)
5. Click save
6. Go to the directory where you saved the file and it should be
identified as an .html file
7: Upload the file to your page (using the link "upload" at your Site Manager")
After this procedure is completed, your site should be verified. Next step is to add a sitemap.
- GooglePages automatically creates a sitemap, which is available at:
http://sitename.googlepages.com
As so, you only need to insert that url when prompted.
When you finish this, you should have a "1" under sitemap, and a green
"v" under "verified?". Good news, everything is fine now! You can now
explore all the features given by this powerful tool.
