Subject: Why is Google "Down" all the time?
Is there anyone else out there that feels the outrage??? If it wasn't
for the fact that this is my grown son's computer, I would change
servers/dsl providers. This is ridiculous!! Google was down off and on
for the whole week-end and was down for more than 12 hours today!!!
What is their explanation??? I count on my e-mail to keep me in "real
time"touch with my friends & family back east. Plus, I'm relying on it
to search for & submit resumes to prospective employers. How does it
look to them if I can't get back in touch with them via e-mail at their
request???At this point in time, I would not recomend Google to
anyone!! I'm in Hawaii & I spoke with my niece in Massachusetts
yesterday to get her e-mail address. It turns out she has Google too &
hates it as much as I do!! My son is away for at least a month, but
when he returns & am going to strongly suggest that he find a better
service. Is there any recourse for us "lowly folk"? There has to be a
better way!!!

If you have problems with accessing Google, you might have spyware in
your computer:

Install, update and use all of these programs: CWShredder, Ad-aware,
Spybot - Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster, RapidBlaster Killer,
SpyRemover, and Spy Sweeper.

------

If you have problems with Gmail, try these:

 - if you are using internet security software (antivirus, personal
firewall, web filtering program), disable them for troubleshooting
   purposes
 - you may have problems because of proxy issues, so try logging in at
   https://gmail.google.com
 - reload web page after you have logged in Gmail
 - empty browser's cache
 - allow cookies for Google
 - allow JavaScript for Gmail

I did not notice any problems with Google either (I am on the North
American west coast).

In addition to Tomi's suggestion, the problem may be with your ISP. I
have a high-speed connection at work and use dial-up at home, but have
never had a problem with gmail from either location (although accessing
gmail from home, on the dial-up connection, seems to take forever to
load the Inbox).

If you decide to try other e-mail services, I urge you NOT to use
Hotmail or any service offered by mail.com. I have MANY e-mail
addresses, each one for a different service/forum/subscription, so I
have experienced much of what is available. 75% of the times I try to
log into hotmail, I get a "System is busy. Please try later" message.
And mail.com overwhelms you with pop-ups and ads before crashing (and
you STILL don't get your e-mail). There are so many e-mail services out
there, you can pick one that has some character (based on a hobby,
occupation, geographical location, etc.). For example, here is one I
get a kick out of: http://www.rocketscientists.ca/
And the service is good too!
I also happen to like Yahoo!. I have never had a problem with the
service and the portal page allows a lot of customization, to make it
unique to you.
There's lots more too.

And also full browser cache can cause problems. From the FAQ:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Q:  Why can't I access Google or some other search engines?

A:  From Tomi Häsä (tomi.h...@gmail.com):

Sometimes browser's full cache memory can cause various problems. Try
to clear browser's cache memory and then reload the web page (see
section 6).

If that doesn't help, try to search for spyware from your computer,
which can prevent you from accessing some web sites (see question
above).

If that doesn't help either, then your ISP (internet service provider)
might have DNS or some other problems. You could contact your ISP if
the problem persists.

If there is only one search engine you can't access (for example
Google), you might want to contact that search engine company, because
it might have for example DNS problems.

If you can't use your Gmail account, look at the Gmail section in this
FAQ.
