Hello everyone,

I am writing especially to the people who are mapping Pakistan. I think there are many issues that are needed to be resolved before this map goes live otherwise this map will create a huge confusion for the users and in navigation etc. Here are couple of issues that are of much concern and rest will follow the post as soon as they become more important to discuss.

First of all, one of the most important issue is the naming any City / Town / Village. I can understand as these places are recognized by their names in Urdu Language but since we are mapping it and keeping a priority of naming them in English as default so why everyone is not just looking for a proper source of correct spellings? I agree names are always with different spellings at different places. My last post had a link to the files on Pakistan Post Office web site that do have the correct names given by Government of Pakistan and the Postal Codes allotted to the places. Here is the link again and please try to use the least data which will really make this map some useful instead of just drawing roads and stuff that can also be seen through satellite imagery. Few examples of such City/Towns here:

Second issue is also related to the first issue. But in this case, names are not correct for roads drawn in the map. Most of the main roads in Pakistan are named upon their destination City/Town/Village. That means the road from Wazirabad City to Sialkot City should be called as “Wazirabad – Sialkot Road”, showing the direction from Wazirabad to Sialkot. But in same case from Sialkot to Wazirabad city it must be “Sialkot – Wazirabad Road”. Now our dear users have added roads by just giving the name of both cities and most of the time it’s different in each section of road in case when we have long road. Here is one example:

After correction, road will display the both names in a sequence of following each other.

IMPORTANT: Also please look in this example as well for the spellings of the roads. Town names used in this example are different to the actual town names in the map. Could you please let your mouse to click 2-3 times to zoom out and see the City/Town/Village names for correction? Please try to avoid the own estimates.
