General Notes

• After you install the GMarks add-on, a GMarks menu item will appear in the firefox navigation toolbar (In the File, Edit, View toolbar) at the top of the firefox window. Using this GMarks menu you can access a lot of the options that are available through this add-on.
  

How can I import my bookmarks into Google Bookmarks?

• Go to the Gmarks menu: Gmarks->Organize Bookmarks. In that window you select File>Import in import your already exported bookmarks file.
  

Where are my bookmarks saved?

• Your Google Bookmarks are saved remotely on Google's servers here: http://www.google.com/bookmarks/ so you can access them anywhere.
  

How do I save a bookmark?

• When on a webpage that you'd like to save as a bookmark, press Ctrl-D or Ctrl-Shift-D (If using the delicious bookmark plugin is installed at the same time). A popup window will appear and you can change the Name, URL,Label, and add any Notes to the bookmark. When you are ready, you can click the 'Add' button.

How do I create sub-folders within Google Bookmarks?
 - When creating a bookmark, type your label as so: label1>label2.
 - The folder will be created as:
    label1 (parent folder)
          label2 (sub folder)

 - The separator used to create sub-folders can be changed by going into the GMarks menu (Alt-G) from the top of the Firefox toolbar and choosing 'Options'. Going into the 'General' tab, click on the 'Nested Label Separator' button and choose a new separator.


How do I open the sidebar?

• The default way to open the sidebar of GMarks is to press Alt-m.

How do I change the sidebar shortcut key?

   Warning: You could potentially mess up your firefox configuration using these steps. So be careful.

1. In firefox, open a new tab (Ctrl-t) and type about:config in the location bar.
2. Click the 'I'll be careful, I promise' button.
3. In the filter text box type gmarks*sidebar. The gmarks.keys.sidebar.key and gmarks.keys.sidebar.modifiers are the two combination keys you use to open the sidebar.
4. Double click on the gmarks.keys.sidebar.key, a popup window will appear and ask you to change the key. Press any key you want to use instead of the default one (m). Do the same for the gmarks.keys.sidebar.modifiers if you want to change the default (Alt) modifier key. 
5. Close the tab and you may need to restart firefox (Version 3) in order for these changes to take affect.
   

Why do the results of the sidebar search differ a lot from the quick search?
