Fishkill Plains PTA General Membership Meeting October 22, 2009 7:00-8:05 Attendees: Dana Quintana-President Kelly Ceely-Treasurer Deborah Gleeson-Recoding Secretary Absent: Kathy Rattigan- VP of Membership Andrea Corbett- VP of Committees Mrs Plambeck-Teacher Liaison Message from the principal: Pleased picture day went smoothly-thanked all that participated Looking forward to the upcoming bookfair Announced that in an ongoing effort toward safety the school will have another practice lockdown and8 fire drills have been practiced so far The front parking area worked out well today for the 3rd -5th gradesTrack update (Mr. Pikor): *This is not PTA sponsored we just used this as a forum to update the Fishkill plains parents* History- funds were raised over the past several years to build a FIBAR track. This was to be in conjunctionwith WCSD and the Town of East Fishkill as they were going to level the back fields to install not only the track but lacrosse fields as well. An environmental study was required and passed after 2 years. At that point WCSD and the Town of East Fishkill could not come to and agreement regarding field maintenance. The track would be funded and maintained by Fishkill Plains. The Town of East Fishkill backed out making the track to costly. Possible solution- the funds could be used to put in a basketball court and a new walkway for the studentsuse for morning drop off. Fishkill Plains and the WSCD are discussing plans for construction.
