Subject: Fat Art November in NYC
Holey moley talk about a fat cultural smörgåsbord!
The first weekend in November brings us two exciting events:

1. Opening Nov 2nd - FatGirls the movie. Quad Cinemas, NYC.
Ash Christian, the filmmaker + lead actor, has reached out to us
asking for support in having a strong opening weekend. Check out the
trailer on their website - http://fatgirls-themovie.com/

The blurb on the Quad Cinema website:
"Armed with a biting humor and quirky sensibility, Rodney and his
Rubenesque friend Sabrina are valiantly suffering through the
indignity known as high school. Both are outcasts: he's gay and she's
fat. Trapped in a small Texas town and having come to accept his "fat
girl," Rodney, an aspiring Broadway star, musters the energy to
confront his fears and take life---and the hot new student from
England---by the horns. With Rodney's awkward experiences, off-beat
attitude, and strange evangelical family, "Fat Girls" is a hilarious
rollercoaster ride that careens to an outrageous climax."

There might be some free passes available to the screening on October
30th. Please email me if you're interested in attending. Thanks!

2. Nov 2 + 3rd, 8pm - Shetler Studios, mid-town Manhattan

Big Moves is back on tour with LARD: like grease, but thicker! (that's
very funny)
http://bigmoves.org/calendar/month.php?cal=Boston,Montreal,NewYorkCit...

NOTE: this location is wheelchair accessible.
Description: Set in the late '50s (and loosely based on a very
familiar movie with another cooking substance as the title), LARD
brings together upbeat dance moves, tuneful singing, and two best-
friends-forever for a smart, laugh-a-minute musical that will
entertain audiences of all ages.

A newcomer to St. Mary's, Lily finds herself in the middle again: too
big to fit in with the popular Dietrons, and too thin to be accepted
by the tough gang of fatties who terrorize the cafeteria, dominate in
rough-and-tumble dance meets, and singlehandedly keep the nearby
Gina's Diner in business. Lily keeps her spirits up by remembering the
summertime friendship she shared with Patty, who took her around to
all the sock-hops on the beach and was a rabid fan of Lily's after-
hour cooking at the beachside diner. Turns out, Patty goes to St.
Mary's, too. But she's a different girl from the one Lily liked so
much in summer. And Lily, well, she's not eating bacon burgers
anymore. Can their friendship survive diets, dance-offs, and the
disapproval of society?

Hope to see you at one or both of these events in November.
Cheers,
deb
