Jenna Caligari Idea's

Dr. Caligari and the World of Shadows

In this world that has such a huge focus on dreams I was wondering why we hadn't thought about the shadow aspect of it. In our dreams we always seem to have shadows. Shadows of people's faces that we almost recognize but can't quite place. Or shadow monsters that can see us and we can feel. I once had a dream as a little girl where I got out of bed holding my bunny and went into my brothers room. I touched something in his room then left. We I was in the hallway some terrifiying spider shadow came off my hand and grabbed my bunny and ran upstairs. I wanted to follow but I was too frightened and I ran back to bed and I woke up.

Maybe in Caligari we could have people's characters with their shadows (people in black) following them. We could also use Pedro's ideas of mirrors with the shadows acting as that person's true or dark self. I think we could develop a lot from trying to develop the idea of shadows. We could either do this with lighting or just people representing shadows. Let me know what you think or even you have some suggestions!

I think it could be something we used for Ceaser because he is always
asleep so we could show his inner conflicts with these shadows or
angels and demons fighting eachother. To stage it I was thinking of
people wearing black clothes with a certain shine to them so they are
not completely invisible. Then they could express either emotions

Not only demons, but angels, as well? Both? In black and white? And
they fight with each other, but only through the person they belong
to? Do they relate to other people's shadows? How to stage it? Could
it be applied to our Hamlet scenes?
