Subject: Re: Jadetex ugly list formatting

I didn't get any replies to this, but to complete the picture there is
one final problem with the Jadetex-generated TeX output:

(c) Quotes inside footnotes.  These at least are in the correct font
size and indenting, but the spacing after the paragraph is an
     additional two full blank lines.

Can anyone please suggest how I could correct these formatting problems?
If you need more information about my setup please follow up or email
me to say so.

TIA

My general sense is that DSSSL and XSLT are not great translation
vehicles from DocBook to (La)TeX.

But could you point us to (1) an example Docbook instance along
with (2) the pdf output you're getting?

Sorry, I didn't notice this follow-up until just now!  As for the
issues I mentioned, they can all be seen in the PDF file that is at
http://www.malcolm.id.au/files/documents/thesis.pdf.  I won't give
exact page references because I update that document from time to time
so they may change, but I'll reference them by the text that
illustrates the problems:

(a) Lists containing nested paragraphs (or nested lists).

This problem can be seen by searching for "interactivity has been
hampered".

(b) Lists inside footnotes.  The lists are in 10-point font whereas
the
rest of the footnotes are in 9-point, and they are outdented to
the
    left of the left margin.

This problem can be seen by searching for "non-dictatorship".

(c) Quotes inside footnotes.  These at least are in the correct font
size and indenting, but the spacing after the paragraph is an
    additional two full blank lines.

This problem can be seen by searching for "Member States shall take
the measures".

Thanks for any ideas you may have!
