Nested interval tree encoding
I'e been tring to develop a workable implementation of nested interval tree encoding using continued fractions: [link] However, I'm running into a snag when I try to decode the materialzed path of certain nodes using the Euclidean algorithm. The first child node of any... more »

Update main form control from subform
I have an Access database with two tables "Main" and "Rafflenumbers", also a main form (for names etc) and a subform (for numbers assigned). I put an unbound control on the Main form which I want to have updated with the last number added to the control on the subform. I used this controlsource "=Max(subform table!subform control)" in the unbound control which works... more »

Examples of SQL anomalies?
Before I waste a big chunk of next week, does anyone know of any docs on the web that attempt to gather together examples of anomolous behaviour in standard SQL? I am thinking particularly of things like inconsistent treatment of nulls. I've got a couple of (to me) very obvious examples but there must be many more.... more »

Approximate/Fuzzy Search for strings keys
Dear all, I have read the literature on fuzzy/approximate search for strings keys in large databases, but I could not find a clear answer on what is the best that has been achieved thus far in terms of the cost of search (regardless of cost of building any index). I understand this depends on the application/domain/type of data, but,... more »

Niistä voisimme saada enemmän kuin mukaansatempaavaa viitettä siihen mistä... more »

Time-series in RDBs
Hi all, I am currently designing my first database. The complexity is manageable. However in the future I might want to expand the domain to time-series and as far as I understand time-series and databases don't go well together. How does this relate to the object-relational mismatch? I have seen that there is some research, e.g. H.Darwen's... more »
