Subject: Proud Mommy Moment
(This is from the mother of a friend of one of my daughters. Special
diet or what-not, I would am very proud of this close family friend!)

"This story makes me proud, and gives me hope that there are good
people out there. The media makes it seem that kids (teens in
particular) are making poor choices, but mankind always gives me hope!

My son,Vincent, who has ADHD and some other related conditions attends
a public school with a severely autistic child who is mainstreamed.

Yesterday my husband took my son to McDonald's during the day, and
there were tons of kids on the playland. This autistic child was there
and some kids were making fun of him. Two mothers came up to my
husband to tell him how special our son was. Here's what happened.

Vincent noticed the autistic child, Brandon, and went up to him and
put his arm around him and greeted him. Then, he went around to all
the kids in Playland and introduced him as "This is my friend
Brandon." He wanted to be sure everyone knew him and that he was
included in playing.

The women began to cry when they were telling my husband how much that
made an impression on them. My son gets picked on some or is
misunderstood by his peers because of his ADHD and other existing
conditions, so he knows how important it is to belong and be accepted.
He's compassionate anyway, but I think his ADHD situation has made him
even more so.

I'm so proud of Vincent. And, we haven't told him about the women
coming to compliment him - he just did it as a normal thing, not
because someone was watching! What a tender-hearted boy he is!"
