Bristol Skillswap: Wednesday 30 May 2007

TOMAS' NOTES HERE: Notes as .pdf in group folder
VIDEO OF THE SESSION HERE: video on watershed servers

Description: Game design: The Fluffy analysis

Presenters: Ana Kronschnabl and Tomas Rawlings

What's it about then?

The UK computer games industry is worth over £1,210 million and expanding, as new platforms such as the Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation3, Miscrosoft's Xbox360 and ever-expanded functionality-mobile phones are launched.

Ana and Tomas will take us on a brief journey though the computer games world with plenty of useful information on games
design, the games industry and human-computer-interaction.

Who's it for?

Anyone who is interested in games and interactivity. If you make games or any other form of interactive media (or want to!), if you study the media or if you are just hooked on playing Counter Strike or Harvest Moon and would like to 'look under the
bonnet' and see what makes it tick!

What will you learn?

1. How do you make a game?
2. What makes a good game?
3. How does narrative feature in games?
4. Where are computer games going in the future?

Who's it by?

Ana and Tomas are the co-authors of the book Plug In and Turn On: A Filmmakers Guide to the Internet. They also run
FluffyLogic, a digital media development and consultancy company who's clients include Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Hewlett Packard.

Couldn't agree more; we're about to get a PS2 and a couple of guitar
controllers for the office in fact.
