This page contains sound files and written notation for the tunes taught each month. It's usually updated within a week of each meeting. If you're having trouble listening to any of the tunes, here are some things to keep in mind.
All the music files are plain old MP3s.
The MP3 files do have ID tags embedded in them, telling who's playing, what the tune is. If
your MP3-player can categorize by album or artist name (and it seems that most can these days), you'll find each tune under the teacher's name, and the
album name for all the tunes will be "Boston Pipers Club".
Anyone can listen to the music, or download the notes, whether they belong to the club or not.
For some reason, if you just click on the tune names, they will play, but only for the first 2-3 seconds. Nobody knows why. To listen to the whole tune, right-click on the file (Mac Users: option-click), and save to your hard drive. Then you can open it in your favorite MP3-player (iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc.)
The application your browser opens to play a tune (say Quicktime, Windows Media Player) is determined by yourcomputer, not by this website. For ultimate control over how you listen to a tune, download the tune directly (see previous bullet point).

June? Some time in the summer, club member Bensdad brought along a fun polka, and by popular demand, ended up teaching to several club members. Kevin O'Brien wrote out the notes.
November Club member Matt Leipert chose a really fun, 'crantastic' tune for this month's class. Taken from Ronan Browne's album 'The Wynd you know', it's called "Molly, will you do it?". Listen to it here, played by Matt himself.
December Winter conspired against us this month, (twice!) forcing us to postpone our meeting, and then keeping many away. Frank Gibbons taught a polka called O'Sullivan's Fancy, which he found in Terry Moylan's (unfortunately, currently unavailable) book "Johnny O'Leary of Sliabh Luachra", from which this transcription is taken. Pipers need polkas.

January Kara taught a lovely hornpipe, The Swan. She also brought along another great tune (Fahey's Reel), but didn't have time to teach it. Ask her about it some time. Jonathan caught them all on his new Ederol.
February Jimmy O'Brien Moran stepped into the teacher's shoes, and gave us a choice of two reels he thought would be fun to teach. They were Take me tender and you'll have me always (this is the one Jimmy taught), and Sixmilebridge.
March Molly Josephine Hester taught a many-part jig whose name may sound familiar, 'Paidín Ó Raifeartaigh'. Hers is an uncommon version of that tune from Willie Clancy; you can hear him playing it from the tape here.
April Bill Thomas will sit in the teacher's chair.
May Patrick Hutchinson will don the teacher's robe.
While I'm not positive, I think Wednesday would be better for Amanda. For me? It doesn't matter whether it's a Wednesday or a Thursday (not yet, anyway, but when February arrives, I'll have a class to take at UMass in the evenings. Don't know which day yet!).
