Actually, there are black players but with the explosion of Latinos and the inclusion of Asians in baseball, the percentage of black players has decreased.
This latest black whine is just business as usual. What else is new, that's just what they do. Whine, whine, whine about damn near everything.
But the most aggravating thing is that pussy suck-up Bud Selig has instituted a black outreach program, to get more blacks interested in the game. Will the day ever come when blacks do something for themselves? Society leads them around like children, and they have come to expect it. With society's attitudes, they'll always remain in boyhood, perpetual "victims."

Also, talented black athletes are probably more likely these days to go into other sports -- such as football and basketball -- where they predominate.
Is the relative absence of whites in those sports proof of discrimination against whites? Is it proof of the need for an outreach program directed towards whites in those sports? Or are talented athletes simply choosing exercising choice in accordance with where their abilities take them?
It IS insane that the memory of Jackie Robinson is being used to justify some sort of quota system being imposed in MLB. I don't understand that his legacy is supposed to stand for anything other equal opportunity.

But it's also that basketball and football have done a better job of marketing themselves to young black men than baseball has. Kids aren't playing stick ball or three-files-up or taking their mitts to the park the way they used to, and that's before they're old enough to know where their abilities will take them. It also probably has something to do with the lack of decent baseball fields in certain neighborhoods.
I also think that moreso than some other sports, baseball has to be attended to be appreciated. Kids don't grow up loving baseball by just watching it on TV. The economic explosion of professional sports which has driven ticket prices too high for low-income youths to attend probably hurts baseball more than other sports as far as recruiting goes.

Yeah, I'm not arguing for any kind of quota system -- just pointing out that there are some *social* reasons why young black athletes are choosing sports other than baseball.

What was that????? Talk about a computer glitch......lol.
Thats what social programs do for a country. When was the last time you went into a Government facility and saw a white worker? Talk about needing an outreach program. And they want to complain about Baseball, yeah get real.
Barack Saddam Hussein Osama Bin Laden Obama will really make things fun if he gets elected.
