im 18, and have visited the church of scientology. twice. anyway, i was just curios and had to find out what it was all about on my on. They seemed prety normal there, (the staff) but they didnt seem that great either.
I believe that those books and courses are bullshit (ive read What IS Scientology).
But anyway, while i was there, they showed me a movie(short introductory film) i knew i shouldnt have seen it, but i did. Can someone tell, is it possible ive already been brainwashed but sublimic messeges from the film already? if so, what can i do about it? Please respond, i need some answers.

try picketing outside the Org to find out their true colours!

Scientology books don't stand up to much scientific scrutiny. My own copy of "Dianetics" is full of pencil-marks outlining contradictions, inconsistencies and Hubbard's broadsweeping statements.

I suggest you stay away from the org for a while. Or if you insist on going there, leave your wallet at home.
There is some contrary data, but most studies agree that subliminal messages don't work. Since you say "Scientology is bullshit" I'm pretty sure you're not brainwashed. If you later feel any desire to go back to the Org, or if Scientology starts making sense to you, talk to a trusted (non-Scn) friend or relative immediately. In the meantime, I'd recommend you visit Xenu TV (http://www.xenutv.com/) and watch the Xenu cartoon or some of the clips of Scientologists robotically attacking picketers... that should act as a "skepticism booster shot".

The front end of the cults indoctrination centers are staffed mostly with newbies who have no clue about the cult...and these people are genuinely well intended. the cult feeds on these people
and they are good people....
thats how the cult sucks you in. You think the cult is good that way. No its not too late, just dig the scene and boggie on.
A Canadian university professor named Wilson Bryan Key talked about subliminal images in advertising, starting by turning his thesis research into a readable paperback called SUBLIMINAL SEDUCTION (1973), and followed it up with a few sequels. He pointed out disturbing images in print ads, clearly visible when you looked at them right. It's not a recent advertiser's trick; Renaissance painters also slipped in shocking stuff on the Sistine Chapel (what was Eve doing to Adam the instant before they turned around to look at the snake in the tree?) Key even said that Blue Suede's 70's song "Hooked on a Feeling" had at one point a nonsense line "Oo ga sha kah" which once buried deep down in the mix transforms smoothly into "Who got sucked off?" The more shocking and unexpected a subliminal is, the more the mind instantly rejects or reinterprets it, so the better it works. On this theory you could expect to see porno in Christian Television Network commercials. He was solidly castigated by Madison Avenue, and THE SKEPTICAL INQUIRER (www.csicop.org) magazine also attacked his theories, since to them they count as a "claim of the paranormal". Ironically, one TV interview used a subliminal technique (called "monster lighting", an overhead light that leaves shadows under the eyes to make people look sinister) to attempt to discredit him. Key fought back by covering the interviewer's teleprompter so Key could have a chance to speak when the manicured head was left speechless. Still, one thing Key said is that TV commercials and videos are low-resolution images and it is harder to do subliminals on them. Advertisers prefer glossy photographic print ads and movie screens, that's high resolution. So relax, you're not mind-controlled, you've been sufficiently informed about Scientology. Some are even known to lead happy, fulfilled lives completely out of Scientology's influence! S'truth! They're not the way, the truth and the light; nothing is. If you develop a sudden change of heart, waking up in the middle of the night wanting to join Scientology combined with an odd craving for pickles, just get on the Internet for a bit. That will cure ANY "religious" yearnings, and Yahoo.com will even point out the shortcomings of each religion, cult and psychic stand, all neatly categorized for your convenience (their "opposing views" categories are brilliant!)

It is very unlikely you have been brainwashed from one event. Effective mind control relies on reinforcement. Visit www.xenu.net before you go back. Ask them questions based on what you find there. Judge them by the information content of their response. If they attack or evade instead of answering, you can be sure everything is not on the up-and-up. Think for yourself though, and question anyone who tries to persuade you not to. Cheese23

No. It is not possible to be "brainwashed" by "sublimic messages".
Instead of going to a Scientology org I'd recommend a spelling course.

Rent the film "Videodrome". That will give you some idea of what's been done to you. You can only hope that the neurological changes in your brain are relatively minor after only one viewing. But don't go back. Ever. Even if it seems perfectly safe and logical to go back and ask questions. *Especially* if it seems perfectly safe and logical to go back and ask questions.

If something like that worked, don't you think it would've been implemented in the "Dianetics" TV commercials and sucked all us zombies into the "centers" for "processing"?
BTW, this argument applies likewise to the volcano in those ads, which is supposed to stimulate or "restimulate" or something our "reactive mind" or "reactive bank" and bring back bad 70-odd-million-year-old memories--from some "cell memory" or other-- of Galactic politics gone bad, our subsequent death, pickling and transport to a local volcano, where our pickled dead selves with "spirits" still attached were H-bombed, our H-bomb-freed "spirits" electronically trapped and even more strangely programmed or "implanted", and, and . . .
Had any memories, dreams or visions like that lately?
I saw many people reduced to incoherent babbling, stripping off clothes, crawling around on the ground, banging heads, limbs and other body parts against furniture and walls, barking, losing all sense of one's identity and intense and persistent suicidal ideation.

If you imagine 40-50 Scientologists posting on the Internet every few days, we'll just run the SP's right off the system. It will be quite simple, actually.
One showing of a film, even with subliminals, which need repeated viewing to be effective even if they are effective (experts disagree) won't suck you in.
Another thing you might want to be aware of is that Hubbard started the whole scam to make money, and bragged freely about it to fans and pros in the sf community.
Knowing that it was started *as a scam* is frequently inoculation enough.
