As someone else has noted elsewhere, I was being sarcastic.

As you may or may not know, it wasn't *that* long since the clams
saw Diane as one of their most serious PR problems on this newsgroup
and would have given anything to be able to have people dismiss the
hard questions she asks as being motivated by some sort of
personal failing on her part.

It would seem that they've got their wish.

I find usenet works best for me if I ignore the personalities
involved and focus solely on the issues that they raise. YMMV,
I guess.
