Hey all you good folk out there in Airedaleland!
We just want you all to know we have a big Airedale Shindig going on in KC
later on this month. We would love to meet new Airedales and their owners.
Here is the skinny on it!
Welcome to our Fall Event! We sure hope to see you there!! Bring a covered
dish, your hound and your family!
And your checkbook or Credit Card! You will NOT want to miss this exciting
Event of the Year!
_____
This is a word doc message from Terry Kratchman
Because of the times for the shelters we have opted for the 3 pm slot at
Shelter # 4 at Heritage Park. So we won't have to rush off this time. This
will not be your ordinary Airedale event, but an Airedale Event
Extraordinaire! So please mark you calendars-or change the time / place if
you already had it marked on your calendar! You won't want to miss this
event. It will be something we all will talk about for a long time to come!
What is all the fuss about??
Our Big Event taking place Sunday, September 24, 2006 at 3 PM-7 PM.
(Last time we did something like this it was our Spring Fling and we had 24
Airedales there with their owners! It was a blast and a half. We earned
several hundred dollars for Rescue.)
What are we going to be doin'?
* Potluck in the Park
* Games for the dogs and their people-you'll love these
* Getting together with the Airedale community
* Helping Having Fun and Helping Rescue at the same time
* Showing the dogs a good time and letting them fraternize
What's in it for me besides a good meal and fun--will there anything
available to buy? (I like to shop!)
* Silent Auctions for Baskets of Dog/Airedale Stuff & maybe some people
stuff. Neat selections.
* Sweet Treat Raffles-you buy a ticket and get a bag of treats for your
dog whether you win the raffle or not. Great packages to be had.
* One of Peggy Salyer's Blue Denim Airedale Quilts will be raffled off
for Airedale Rescue somewhere in the mix.
* I am making some Airedale Shirts and T-Shirts with Airedales on them
which will be for sale to help out, as well.
The shirts will say: I Love My Airedale(s) and My Airedale(s) love me. If
you would like one of your dog(s) please email me a jpg. picture and I will
do it for you.
Send your jpg. picture to me at <mailto:ladyhun...@swbell.net>
ladyhun...@swbell.net.
Also I will have some generic Airedale ones with just an Airedale, and two
Airedales on them with the same saying, if all of the ones we have are not
special ordered.
The designs will be on the front left chest/pocket. T-shirts will be $10
and the Button down shirts with collars will be $25. If you would like a
larger version of the picture on the back it will be $5 more.
If you want to talk to me about them, please call me (my contact info is
below). If you don't get an answer, leave me a message with your number and
a good time to call, and I will get back to you. Scout's honor.
* And maybe a few Airedale Pictures - you might even find one of your
dogs in there! They look more like drawings than photos. 8 X 10 ready to
frame.
* The wonderful Lori Haberman-Wilson will be there with her Martingale
Collars which she makes and will donate 50% (all the profit) to ATRA. She
usually donates the money to Greyhound Rescue and Animal Health Studies, but
this time it will be for OUR rescue group. (Ain't it great?!) You might
want to think of gifts-the holidays will be here before you know it.
Yeah, well what's in it for the Dogs??
* After the event, we are taking the dogs to the Leads Off Area nearby
and let them have a swim and a romp in the park.
* Peggy Salyer is making homemade biscuits for all attending dogs!
* For each Sweet Treat Raffle ticket you buy, your dog gets a bag of his
own treats-everybody gets something!
* Airedale Rescue Dogs will receive the funds to be cared for in the days
to come
Where exactly is this place?
The shelter we have is Shelter # 4 right next to the Leads Off Area.
It is at the Heritage Park near Terry Kratchman's new place.
For those of you who have never been here are Directions:
* Take I-35 to 119th Street Exit in Olathe, KS and go East to Black Bob
Rd (2-3 lights)
* Turn South on Black Bob Rd. Going South on Black Bob, go across 159th
St and then on your Left is another entrance to the Park
* Heritage Park is located just South of 159th and Black Bob Road in
Olathe, KS. (Though the main entrance is on Lackman Road, the Leads Off
Section of the Park is easily found just South of 159th & Black Bob road.
.)
* And as soon as you turn into that entrance you will come to a Y. Go
left on the Y and you will see the Leads Off Section on your left. There is
a parking lot with a Johnny on the Spot and a large fenced area.
* Just past the Leads Off Park is Shelter # 4, again on the left.
What is the weather going to be like?
Gee Whillikers! Some folks just want to know everything~!
It will be the end of September and we have put
in our order for cooler weather!
But it is a shelter in case of inclement weather.
Tell me again, what I need to bring?
* Yourself and your dog, if you don't have a dog, come anyway, if you're
an Airedale Wanna-Be Owner, come anyway (Dogs will need to be leashed or
crated during the potluck etc. This shelter is not an off leash area)
* Your favorite covered dish--could you kindly let Terry Kratchman know
what you plan on bringing, so we cover all bases. (Contact info below)
Thanks!
* Spouses, families and other dog lovers would be good.
* Money / Credit Cards to buy cool stuff and bid on more neat stuff.
PS
* If you have an item or something you would like to sell for Airedale
Rescue, please let Terry Kratchman or me know. Or if you know a Vendor that
would be willing to donate something, nifty!
* We need some Volunteers to help with the items that are for sale, some
help with games with the dogs, and will need help tearing down the stuff-so
if you are willing and able, let us know that too!
* Or if you have some old blue jeans you don't need-can have holes in the
knees etc-doesn't matter. Peggy can use them for the quilt. Call us quick!
You can call either myself or Terry Kratchman (numbers below). She uses 6"
and 8" squares for the quilts.
It takes a village to rescue homeless dogs!
It is always nice to get together with a bunch of Airedale folks and their
hounds! I am looking forward to a GREAT time with all of you!
