"Beyond Therapy," by Christopher Durang
Act 1, Scene 1
Myself: I definately felt like this was my best performance of the scene yet. No lines were dropped. However, as can be expected one or two things did go wrong. I dropped one of the newspaper clippings and I didn't take my sandle off when I put my foot on the table. Other than this it was a solid run. I found it easier to get into the character with the audience, and I felt like I was able to show Prudence's motivations for staying better in this run through than any other. The rose was a very helpful prop for me to use with Prudence.
Pedro: I believe that this was Pedro's best run through of the scene as well. His crying was the best its been yet. He really did seem like Bruce during this performance. Also, having his hair tied back was very helpful, not only for me, but likely for the audience as well. Jenna gave both of us good feedback and said that we gave solid performances. Pedro did a much better job with shortening his pauses, which was a tremendous help to me in my reactions to him.
Act 1, Scene 2
Eric: Eric did a great job with this scene, it was his best performance of it yet. He nailed the pre-acting and projected his voice perfectly. His use of the belt-buckle was bigger and the climax was solid. He also did a good job of loosening and tightening his tie based on Prudence's reactions. He also did a much better job with his monologue and demonstrating how Stewart was indirectly revieling his feelings for Prudence. Also, his putting on the professional mask at the top when Prudence enters was much clearer.
Sarah: This was also Sarah's best run through of the scene. She did a great job with her monologue. Also, she did a much better job of reacting to Stewart's lines and expressions. Both of them remembered to cheat out and project their voices, and having Eric's hair tied back was really helpful. Sarah reactions were also much bigger which really complimented the comedic aspects of the scene.
Act 1, Scene 3
Clair: Clair made a perfect Charlotte. Her pre-acting and acting was hilarious and well done. The shoes made sence this time through and the ending was clearer. I think it really helped to have the extra props- the drawings around the desk, the cookies, and the actual phone. Her use of snoopy made sense and I liked that it was used more during this run through. This was definately her best performance of the scene. Sergio: Sergio seemed much more like Bruce in this final performance.
Act 1, Scene 4
Brian did a great job with Bruce. The pre-acting was hilarious and complimented the scene well. I noticed that Mary broke character once or twice, but she did a much better job with enunciation. It was their best run through. Mary's monolouge also improved.
Act 1, Scene 5
Sally and Eric: They both improved. The pre-acting with the phone and the door improved, and it was helpful to see Prudence behind the door and her reactions to what Stewart was saying. Sally didn't break character at all this time through. Eric did a much better job with having bigger reactions to Prudence. I especially like that he stood up out of his chair this time. They both projected well, and the ending was clear.
Act 1, Scene 6
Sarah, Mary, and their co-actress did a good job with this scene considering that they hadn't had much rehearsal. It really helped the scene to have three actresses instead of having Sarah play both Bob and Bruce. Characters were broken a couple of times, and I think some lines were dropped, but it was an improved run through. They all projected well and Sarah had nice reactions to the situation. The ending seemed a little awkward, but I think that was becuase some lines were dropped.
Act 2, Scene 3
Sally: In this run through it was clearer why Prudence started to cry. I think it helped that she took the note. Eric: The crying was much bigger and better. The waiter calling was clear with both of them, and they both did a better job of projecting. The ending was solid. Also, Eric's monolouge improved.
