On August 4, I will do a radio interview (at the station) with Terry
Lowry of KTEK, Houston, Texas. At 7:00 p.m. that day I will teach on
book compilations at the Barnes and Noble at Woodlands mall. On
Saturday, August 5, I will teach at the Texas Christian Writers'
Conference and present the keynote address titled, "Lower the Bar."
I return to Texas in September to teach for the North Texas Christian
Writers' Conference.
My interview with Elizabeth Thompson can be viewed at
http://www.writers-block.info/writer-to-writer.htm. I recently accepted
an invitation to speak for the Boone County (Kentucky) Jaycees for
their annual Christmas prayer breakfast.

The book I wrote for Don Piper, 90 Minutes in Heaven, has now hit a
million copies. Last month in Denver at the International Christian
Retail Show, Harvest House Publishers held a media breakfast for Shaun
Alexander for the August 15, release of Touchdown Alexander (which I
wrote for him). The publisher has already placed a full-page ad for the
book in New Man magazine.
In August, Marriage Partnership magazine features an article I wrote
about my reaction to Shirley's cancer seven years ago. The editor said
I'll be on the back page (apparently a featured position) with a
picture.
My first cozy mystery, Everybody Loved Roger Harden comes off the press
in January and I've already received a contract for my second one
called Everybody Wanted Room 623.
Last week I completed my Atlanta Mentoring Clinic. The next one is
Seattle (August 29-September 1) and the last one for 2006 is Dallas.
Those clinics are both full, but I've already set the dates and places
for two for 2007: Los Angeles (January 17-21) and Chattanooga (March
28-31). I've committed to do one in Minneapolis, but we haven't set the
date.

For those who live in the Atlanta area, I'll speak at the Smyrna
library on Thursday, August 17, at 7:30 p.m. This will be for "Friends
of Smyrna Library" and will include a book signing of my From a
Daughter's Heart to Her Mom. I'd love to meet some of you.
Christian Book Previews featured a nice review of my book this month:

I'm busy as a regular contributing writer for Lifestyles Magazine,
which covers arts and leisure southwest of metro Atlanta. I write
three stories a month, and this month my article, "Preserving Links to
Our Past" was about historic preservation in the South. I also write a
monthly humor column for moms in West Georgia Ladies Magazine.
I stay active in the blogosphere as the "Lively Women" blogger for the
Science & Health channel of b5 media. www.livelywomen.com. My August
Book Buzz column for Christian Women Online will feature reviews of two
novels, by Cyndy Salzmann and Mary DeMuth, as well as nonfiction by
Timothy Smith and Carrie Carter. www.christianwomenonline.net.
I will attend the Sandy Cove CLASSeminar, August 28-30, and look
forward to it.

I'll speak August 25, to a regional gathering of the Red Hat Society
in Fremont, Nebraska. My topic is "The Irresistible Woman."
Otherwise, August brings a break from my speaking schedule and gives me
time to work on the third book of my Friday Afternoon Club mystery
series: The Killer Karpool. There's a review of the first book in
the series, Dying to Decorate, in this month's issue of Christian
Women Online magazine www.christianwomenonline.net. Book two, Crime &
Clutter, is scheduled for release in April 2007.
I'll also travel to Seattle, August 10-13, for a freelance assignment
and to Missouri August 14-16, for a brainstorming retreat with other
writers to outline a new fiction series.
