Review and Ministry magazines have accepted reviews for The Embrace of
a Father to be published in 2007. The reviews were written by Madeline
Johnston. My current project is ghostwriting a biography. A major
publisher has asked to see the first 100 pages.

I will attend CBA Advance in Indianapolis, where I'll pitch a new book
project. I also plan to meet with some literary agents. On February 3,
I will speak to the Hamilton Writers' group on "Ten Common Writing
Mistakes-And How to Correct Them."

In December I read a lot and relaxed often-and enjoyed it. I wonder
if I could get used to that kind of life. By mid-January I'll be back
to my full-time job. My first 2007 mentoring clinic is in the Los
Angeles area, January 17-20, and it's full. The second is in
Chattanooga, March 21-24 (also full). I'll hold two more in 2007: in
Minneapolis, September 11-14; and in Bozeman, MT, October 9-12.
I'll fly to the Chicago area January 29 for TV and radio interviews and
drive to Indianapolis on January 31 for two days of Advance-the
Christian Booksellers' tradeshow.

The Immortality of Influence (Kensington) that I wrote for Dr. Salome
Thomas-EL  was a "Best Pick" for 2006 in Black Issues Book Review
magazine.
90 Minutes in Heaven continues to stay on the New York Times
best-seller list.
Crosswalk.com now runs a weekly devotional by me and links people to my
web site.

December was a whirlwind month of speaking engagements, book deadlines,
Christmas preparations, and most of all, the joy of celebrating our
Lord's birth. This year's Christmas had a deeper meaning after
experiencing the hardships and the faith of those in Sudan.

I had a birthday on December 28, but never mind the year. They come
faster and faster-like book deadlines. I'm very goal-oriented, but
I'm also sensitive to God's leading. And 2007's goals and purpose are
shaping up into a year of grand adventures.

In January I'll have completed A Texas Legacy Christmas, a Barbour
Publishing release for next September. I enjoyed writing a Christmas
book during the holidays. In January, I will teach romance writing at
Taylor University in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for a mini-semester. This is
an exciting event for me. While in Fort Wayne, I'll hook up with writer
friends Colleen Coble, Diann Hunt, and Denise Hunter.

Here in chilly Nebraska, we tend to hunker down in January.
Consequently, I will forego my usual travel schedule to teach an online
course for the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) called "A
Strategic Approach to Marketing Your Novel." The course is free to
ACFW members, so if one of your New Year's resolutions is to learn
more about book promotion, hop on over. I'd love to "meet" you
and brainstorm marketing ideas for your books.

Just because I'm not traveling, doesn't mean I can keep away from
the podium. I'm scheduled to speak in the Omaha area at Calvary
Christian Church, Divine Shepherd Lutheran, First Lutheran (Blair), and
Prairie Lane Christian Church.

My husband and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary by taking
a cruise on the Mexican Riviera at the end of January. What a way to
chase away those winter chills!

As far as engagements go, January will be low-key for me. I'll spend
most of the month crafting characters for a new, three-book series and
lining up future freelance assignments with general market and
faith-based magazines. I'll hit the ground running in February with
book club meetings and speaking engagements.

Because January is my birthday month, it's also a great time for me to
reflect and pray about what God wants me to accomplish this year.
