Subject: RE: systems
If I had to list the parameters that I use, in order of priority, it would go like this:
1. Line
2. Opponent (divisional/conference)
3. Teams won/loss record
4. Last game result

I would disgard systems that are not predicated upon the game line, for the line is always the single most important factor. I also find that when the line itself is your key, the other important factors can complement the line with additional systems. It is also important to remember that the deeper you dig into statistics, the more inferior will be your system. Good luck!

line differences from LAST week to Current week ALSO worth noting, IE:

20020910<=date and line-p:line>=3,7,10,13 and team and site and p:site

this is just a VERY VERY basic sample going back 5 years when teams GAIN
certain value and includes their sites and previous sites, see how they
respond (NOTE MIA DOLPHINS),,,you can also add whether they LOST / WON that
previous game:

20020910<=date and line-p:line>=3,7,10,13 and team and site and p:site and
p:L

                     or

20020910<=date and line-p:line>=3,7,10,13 and team and site and p:site
and p:W

LOSING line value would BE:  line-p:line<=-3,-7,-10,-13     etc etc etc,
just pick your numbers

hardly ANY research on this concept, works even better with CFB, MANY
MANY more games AND teams to work with

I, too, have found the line DIFFERENCE between a team's last game and
their current line to be a tremendous profit producer.  I liken it to
a jump or a drop in class, as in horse racing.  Often, in the NFL for
example, a team goes from a seven point dog to a three-point
favorite.  Many coaches will "save" their team when they are a big dog
and they have a winnable game next week.  Conversely, a team many have
a big jump in class upcoming and many times teams leave nothing on the
field, knowing they're likely to lose the following week.

Great stuff Shaun!!
