Dear Pool Advocates,
Countdown: 42 days!
Voters head to the polls on April 1.
A $2 million pools-specific bond will be on the ballot. If voters approve
the pools bond AND the state comes up with matching funds, we will finally
have the $4 million needed to repair all of the pools in Anchorage.
You have voiced your desires to keep public pools open in Anchorage. The
City Assembly, Parks and Recreation, and the general public have heard you.
Now your voice needs to be stronger than ever on this final push for
funding.
HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1. WRITE LETTERS TO THE EDITOR. Encourage voters in the city to
support the pools bond. Let them know why pools are valued in this
community. Simply go to www.adn.com <http://www.adn.com/> and scroll down
to opinion and submit your letter.
2. WRITE TO YOUR LEGISLATORS AND THE GOVERNOR. Encourage them to
support pools. Emphasize the health and safety aspects of pools. This is not
an Anchorage-only project; Bartlett pool serves the entire state aquatics
community. Simply log onto www.legis.state.ak.us
<http://www.legis.state.ak.us/> to contact members of the legislature AND
send an e-mail to Gov. Sarah Palin at www.gov.state.ak.us
<http://www.gov.state.ak.us/> .
3. SEND MONEY TO ANCHORAGE TOMORROW: Funds gathered will help produce
and broadcast an advertising campaign on radio and TV. $50 is a suggested
donation. Checks should be made to Anchorage Tomorrow; Memo: Pool Bonds.
Taxpayer ID No. is 92-0138542. Please mail contributions to:
Anchorage Tomorrow, Inc.

state a wonderful place to live.
