Subject: Request for Suggestions on Teen Computer/Gaming Lab

Hello all,

My library just received a grant to create and furnish a teen
computer/gaming lab in one of our two (2) current activity rooms.  We'd like
to retain some usefulness from the room besides as a computer lab, though,
so this is what we've tentatively come up with.

   - We're looking at getting 10 desktop computers (as opposed to laptops).
We felt the desktops were less expensive, leaving us more funds for
additional features, as well as offering better processing speeds and video
cards for the gaming aspects.  We also figured that no matter how well the
laptops are locked down, eventually one or two would walk.  Desktops are
   more conspicuous.

   - We're thinking of getting five (5) wheeled tables on which to
sit/attach the desktops that could be then moved around the room if we
needed to rearrange for a program, staff meeting, etc.

   - We figured the desktop monitors would be easier to disconnect and store
away when we wanted to use the tables as tables, than to disconnect and
   store entire laptops.

We're really still in the planning stages, and would appreciate any
suggestions from the collection brain(s), especially those with similar
labs/situations.  Thanks all, and hope you have a good rest of your week!
