Title: Sr. Network Administrator

Location: Des Moines IA

Duration: 6 months

*I. Responsibilities *

Client is seeking senior technical staff augmentation for departmentʼs
network based infrastructure. This infrastructure provides support to
approximately 400 full time employees located in 23 locations. The network
provides access to file, print, email, database and web services as well as
connectivity to mainframe services hosted by DAS- ITE  and access to
services hosted by a limited number of external partners.

The individual selected will be responsible for management at a senior
technical engineer level of department activities in following areas.

*1. Server Management*- The individual will plan and execute support for
agency activities related to numerous services hosted on approximately 40
network servers. Responsibilities include design and planning for current
and future infrastructure requirements, installation, integration and
support of server level technologies including backup/disaster recover,
data storage, fault tolerance, and communication over department WAN using
various public and private data circuits. Individual will be expected to
possess senior level expertise in broad range of technical areas including
but not limited to: Active Directory, Web Hosting Services, systems
operational monitoring with Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM),  Security
Services including management and support of department firewalls, Network
Operating Services Windows Server 2000/2003 and Exchange 2003.

*2. Data Base Services Technical Support*- Client utilizes SQL 2005, Oracle
9i/10g, Teradata 6 and SAS.  Responsibilities include installation and
support of database management software.

*3. Desktop Management*- Client provides a tightly managed desktop
configuration which requires desktops to be created from standard images and
all applications to be centrally delivered. Responsibilities of position
include defining and maintaining polices established under current desktop
configuration (Windows XP/Vista OS with the Office XP/2007 suite of desktop
products) and managing centralized deployment of approximately 125
applications using WinInstall and MS Systems Management Services (SMS).

*4. Network Design and Security Administration*- Planning and execution of
department network communication strategy including incorporation within
network of dial-up and VPN services. Individual is responsible for insuring
the departmentʼs infrastructure meets accepted standards for security and
continuity of operations.  Deployment of anti-virus/anti-spyware software
using McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) and Microsoft patch management. This
includes responsibility for planning and executing security reviews of
network and insuring compliance with security requirements.

*5. Technology Management and Planning** *- A significant component of
responsibilities will consist of evaluation of new or alternative
technologies and utilizing this information to assist agency in strategic
and tactical technology planning. Strong written and verbal presentation
skills are necessary to provide agency senior management with information
required for strategic decision-making. Responsible for planning and
implementing complex upgrades in technology infrastructure with high
risk/high impact on diverse customer bases using limited department and
consulting resources. Also responsible for developing and executing service
level agreements with other business partners and serves as principal
network representative . Design and coordinate training and education of
department technical staff in use of new technology.
