UMCP Invitational Tournament

Saturday, April 21, 2007 2pm - 10pm

Hopkins participated in the UMCP Invitational Tournament!  It was lots of fun, and JHU did quite well, especially when you think about the size of our team!   We sent a team of 7 people: (right to left in picture below) Derek S., Iskren, Nikesh, Tushar, Alex, Brendan (behind), Katrina

Singles: Nikesh, Iskren, Derek, Brendan, Tushar, Katrina

Doubles: Nikesh - Iskren, Derek - Alex, Tushar - requested (not sure what his name is), Katrina - Christine (UMCP)

Mixed: Alex - Katrina, Nikesh - requested, Iskren - requested, Brendan - requested

Now I'm not exactly sure of the scores and everything, but I'm doing my best from memory. :)  Please correct me if there are any mistakes (typos or wrong scores. etc.)!

Other participating universities: UMCP, UMBC, Loyola, Towson?  

Overall Hopkins came in 2nd with something like 17 points, UMCP came in first with a lot more points, UMBC came in third with 1.5 points, and Loyola came in last with 0 points.  Not sure if Towson was officially competing, but there was at least 1 Towson player participating. 

JHU - 7 players; UMCP - 21 players; UMBC (unsure); Loyola - 2 players   

Men's singles - our Nikesh won! :)  

Men's doubles - not sure who won, but JHU team won consolation (match unplayed, but it was btwn our 2 men's doubles teams)

Women's doubles - the team w/ Hui-ling (Towson baddy pres) won, but Katrina and Christine (UMCP) won 2nd place

Mixed Doubles - not sure who won, but I think Nikesh and his UMBC (?) partner won consolation.

We did very well for ourselves and took home some medals and prizes. :D  Congrats to everyone who went!
