I am aware that these kinoflo-type lightbanks produce a very soft
light, but does this eliminate the need for softboxes?
Long time ago, its was assumed that softboxes used tungsten bulbs
(Chimera, etc), but what complicates this is that there are now fluoro
softboxes - what is this, a softlight (the fluoro bulb) made softer?
What differentiates these? Is it the light spill, light quality, etc?
Or is it a matter of convenience (lightbank = smaller kit, softbox =
big kit)? Or is it the setup time (lightbank = fast setup, softbox =
slow setup)?
One thing for sure, it seems the softbox solution is much cheaper.
